Immunity Shots Two Ways

These immunity shots will give your immune system an added boost this Fall. Or as our colleague says, “Prepare for the cold by not getting one!” Try these recipes or modify to make them your own.

Pineapple-Ginger-Citrus Immune Shot

Ingredients (all organic/biodynamic):

  • 1 orange
  • 1 lemon
  • ½ cup of pineapple
  • 1 knob of ginger, washed thoroughly
  • 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric
  • Sprinkle of black pepper

Instructions:

There are two options for making this recipe – depending on the blender type you have on hand. If you own a Vitamix® or other high-speed blender, you’ll want to use more of the peel of the ingredients, then strain using a nutmilk bag or cheesecloth. This preserves more of the nutrients that live in the peel and pith. If you do not possess a high-speed blender, no worries; option 2 will work just fine in a regular blender. Makes 6 shots.

Option 1 (Vitamix® version)

  1. Roughly peel your orange and lemon, removing the bitter orange or yellow skin, but leaving much of the pith. Cut in half to remove seeds.
  2. Chop ginger into smaller pieces
  3. Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth
  4. Strain mixture through a cheesecloth or nutmilk bag into a bowl, then gently squeeze out the juice.
  5. Pour into your desired sterilized glass bottle for storage or pour into 6 shot glasses and drink!

Option 2 (Low-speed blender version)

  1. Cut orange and lemon in half and juice in citrus juicer. Remove seeds. Pour juices into blender, including pulp if desired.
  2. Peel and chop ginger into smaller pieces
  3. Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth
  4. Pour into your desired sterilized glass bottle for storage or pour into 6 shot glasses and drink!

  • 1 c. coconut water
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
